Bamboo Textiles Australia began designing and testing clothing items made from the new bamboo fibre in 2005, after Bernie Kath (one of the founding partners) was introduced to the fantastic properties of the fibre whilst in China on a bamboo fact-finding trip with regard to his other bamboo interests.

Realizing the importance of this new development and its truly significant likely application to Australia’s harsh climate conditions, Bernie together with his brother Chris and their business partner John Henriksen began trials with clothing items almost immediately.

We decided from the start that we would only proceed with manufacturing and marketing of any products if the design had been thoroughly tested and found to be truly superior. We do not ever want to be importers and/or distributors of second grade products. This approach has been warmly received and praise and acclamation of the items has echoed from the marketplace. We will maintain this attitude
